The GCash MPIN (Mobile Personal Identification Number) is a 4-digit security code that protects your GCash account. You set it up when you first create your account, and you'll need it every time you log in or authorize a transaction. Keeping your MPIN secure is critical to protecting your money.
Setting Up Your MPIN for the First Time
During the GCash signup process, after entering your personal details, the app will prompt you to create your MPIN. Enter a 4-digit number and confirm it by entering it again. Choose a number that is memorable for you but not obvious to others. Avoid using your birthdate, phone number, or repeated numbers like 0000 or 1111.
How to Change Your MPIN
If you want to update your MPIN for security reasons, log in to the GCash app, go to Profile, then select Change MPIN. Enter your current MPIN, then create and confirm your new MPIN. Your new MPIN will take effect immediately.
What to Do If You Forget Your MPIN
If you cannot remember your MPIN, open the GCash app and select Forgot MPIN on the login screen. You will be asked to verify your identity using the mobile number linked to your account. After receiving and entering the OTP, you can create a new MPIN.
GCash Security Best Practices
- Never share your MPIN with anyone, including people claiming to be GCash representatives.
- GCash will never ask for your MPIN via SMS, email, or phone call.
- Enable biometric login (fingerprint or face ID) as an additional security layer through GCash DoubleSafe.
- Regularly check your transaction history for unauthorized activity.
- If you suspect your account has been compromised, contact GCash support immediately through the app.
GCash DoubleSafe
In 2023, GCash introduced DoubleSafe, a two-factor authentication system that adds biometric verification on top of your MPIN. For Fully Verified users, DoubleSafe provides an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access and phishing attacks.
